There is plenty of evidence now that ‘direct’ democracy doesn’t produce good decisions. For that, you need debate, deliberation, and reflection. You need independent institutions and division of powers. And above all, you need good leaders. It is probably best for the world to stop experimenting now, and focus on what form of ‘representative’ government is best. Which of course this website argues is the U.S. style presidential system.
